Food Magaines

Advertising for food in the 1920's was very descriptive.  Ads included well detailed explanations on how to use the product, what it is made of, & convincing statements. These ads also showed delicious displays of the product, its health benefits, & their catchy slogans.  With the placement of these slogans, convincing statements & other things the companies make their product more appealing to the customers.

When you read one of these vintage articles nowadays you would see how hard these manufacturers try to sell their product.  They try to portray the product as a necessity instead of a want so that the customer would think that they NEED their product. Using this method proved to be very successful in the 1920's.
Examples of famous magazines during this time period include :
  •  The American Food Journal
  • Good Housekeeping
  • The Home Economist
  • Women's Home Companion
These magazines were the main source of advertisement for these manufacturers and companies.  They provided them with the ability to access their customers through their daily entertainment or readings. Using this way of getting their product out they established a " common bond " with their customers in order to make a bond that won't break.
